A spoiler-controlled Low-Budget Repairs prison job checklist for keys, highlighted objects, salvage and objectives that will not register.
The short version
Preserve a pre-job save, follow the exact Work Plans room group and scan highlighted desks, walls and interactable props before moving salvage. Recent Steam and Discord activity confirms players are asking about the prison key, but no stable exact key location was independently verified, so this guide does not invent one.

Search the active objective area methodically: desks, shelves, boards, door-adjacent surfaces and highlighted interactables. Re-read the objective after every scripted conversation. The current community pages show repeated key questions but not a reproducible location answer, so any more precise claim would be speculation.
Optional salvage is not the checklist
Players report taking many boxes, fixtures and even light switches out of the prison. That demonstrates how much can be moved, not what the mission requires. Finish mandatory objectives and preserve the save before stripping optional items.
When one objective stays open
- Stop moving unrelated objects.
- Return to the named room.
- Compare exact item, color and surface.
- Perform one required interaction and watch Work Plans.
- Reload the pre-job save once if the counter never changes.
- Report the exact line with before-and-after screenshots.
